RE: Cool Mods

this thread is starting to deviate from cool mods and is becoming a debate on one person's suggestion. I make a motion that we stop discussing the water heater controversy and get back to the other mods. JMHO

RE: Have to replace tongue jack

If you end up getting a different one, call Barker directly. They gave me a price on a Hi Power 3000 that was about 150 dollars cheaper then locally.

RE: Who makes the best 22" LCD tv?

As I said in my earlier post, the 23" Samsung 1080p monitor w/digital tuner was cheaper than a comparable Samsung HDTV. Glad I found the special I did. The picture is great and I get more channels with the digital than I did analog. Also, some of my channels that were staticy on analog are crystal clear on the digital channel.

Notice the price difference and the features of the two.

RE: Bill is way to high

Here on base, the groundskeeping contractors were weed eating in front of my TT. The patio area there is done with pea gravel and while weed eating, they slung a piece of the gravel into the window of the Class A across from me. Broke the window and spiderwebbed it. The groundskeeping contractor's insurance had to pick up the repair. Total cost to replace the window was somewhere in the neighborhood of $2400. One thing you have to remember is that home windows aren't cheap either, and a lot of your RVs have the same type of window.

RE: Replacing white square head screws

Bought me a box of them at a local RV parts supplier. I bought a box of 25, and you can get different lengths.

RE: Who makes the best 22" LCD tv?

I just got a good deal on friday on the Samsung 23" 23333HD. It is a Sychmaster (monitor), but has the digital tuner w/full HD (1080p). Like it so far. Got it for 279 at Office Depot. If you look at ones that are being markedted as televisions, the same size is substantially higher.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

I wanted some kind of light to let me see to get in my TT at night. Leaving the bug light on all the time was a no-go as the bulbs burn out very quickly. I was looking online one time and found these online Motion Activated LED Light. I got two of these, one for each of my doors. I mounted the flat bracket to my TT, then hung the lights. When it is time to move, the lights just unhook from the brackets (which only stick out about an eighth of an inch) and I can press on. They are not super bright, but are more then adequate to show you where tripping hazards are and where the steps/handles are at.
Also, can't find them at Autozone right now, but picked up a small LED light that has a cabinet door switch on short segment of wire. There is a small magnetic piece that mounts to the door to operate the switch when you open it. I put one of these in the under-bed storage area. Again not super bright but give you enough light to find what you are looking for.

RE: gas not working on one tank

I was having the same problem. I decided it was a regulator gone bad. My guess is you probably have the Marshall 254 regulator. I called PPL Motorhomes in Houston and ordered a new regulator for 37 dollars, and bought two new hoses for it. Total cost was about 64 dollars with shipping and handling. Local supplier wanted 84 just for the regulator. Hope this helps ya.
Marshall Regulator
Also, while looking around online, I read some posts about high failure rates of this regulator. Figured I would go ahead and try it again anyway. If I have problems again, I will try a different brand.

RE: Atwood electric tongue jack reviews?

I ordered a Barker Hi Power 3000 directly from Barker. I paid a total of 203 including shipping. It got to me in 3 days and was easy to install. their website is www.barkermfg.com. Very happy with the price, the product, and the promptness of service.

RE: Addition of timer on our hot water heater

I know this is an old post, but just stumbled on it. I am considering getting one of these 12V Timer.
I would put it so it interrupts the power on the line side of my water heater switch. That way if I am away from the TT for a few days I can keep the heater from turning on without causing any issues.

RE: Give me your best storage/organization tips

First thing I will point out from experience is with the Command strips. Be careful about putting them on the wallpaper anywhere. If it gets warm during the day, if there is even a little bit of weight (like a small framed picture) on it, it will start to pull the wall covering away and make a small bubble.
My real tip though is to take care of some of my set up items. I bought two five gallon buckets, a red one adn a white one. The red one is for electrical parts and cords (the power cords roll nicely inside the bucket and leaves room for the miscellaneous electrical adapters and extension cords. I use the white one for freshwater hoses (again, these roll up nicely inside the bucket), nozzles, filters and connectors. The buckets can also be used when needed around the site.
For those who might wonder, hoses that are associated with the black tank DO NOT GO IN THIS BUCKET. They are kept totally separate from the freshwater bucket and parts.

RE: Help-Electrical Question

At the FamCamp here on base we used to run into this problem when plugging a GFCI protected unit into a GFCI outlet. I liked to call it dueling GFCIs. Have you tried plugging into a non GFCI protected outlet in your house?

Sounds to me like you have something bad in all the adapters. Have you tried plugging in all the adapters without plugging in the 50 amp?

RE: Coachmen Trailers

Make sure you check the slideouts to ensure you don't see any kind of leaks. I have some leaks on my 25RKS, but other than that, I love it. Good layout and decent construction.

RE: RV Tips and Tricks

I have one that will also help with the "fat wallet" as well as the "sweaty money" problem. When I was deploying last fall, I carried my cards and cash in my pocket, but while out with friends I lost my govt travel card. Next day while down in the hotel gift store I found one of these Waterproof Carrier
I run the lanyard through a belt loop, then drop the carrier through the loop. My money, id, and credit cards are all secure and dry. Even though I am back in the States I still do this.

RE: CELL PHONE INTERNET ACCESS

chrisguld,
Good tip, I just dug around on the back of my motoq and found it right where you said it would be. Since Alltel is being bought out by Verizon, how much extra does it cost you to use your cell phone for a modem?

RE: Installing a Tornado?

I have one that I am going to install, however I have a quick question. It says to install it on the side opposite your level sensors. I cannot do that as my sensors are on the end about 6 inches from the frame and the tank is a couple of inches from the frame on the other end. What is the best place to position it in this case?
